Going Underground
February 03, 2012

You’ve engaged in your share of underground activities.
Raving in abandoned missile silos. Deciphering ancient cave drawings of prehistoric tortilla recipes. Y no
olvidemos the yearly negotiations with a certain enigmatic, Punxsutawney-based groundhog.
So, naturally, a subterranean quest involving clandestine operatives and assassins seems right up your
alley...
Introducing Waxwing Puzzle Co., Chicago’s newest tour company for the cloak-and-dagger-minded,
taking reservations now for labyrinthine scavenger hunts, ambush games and mysteriously awesome corporate
team-building activities.
Your mission—should you choose to accept it—begins at Waxwing’s website, where you’ll solve a series
of riddles and ciphers acquainting you with what’s in store once you’ve gone underground (more on that
later). Basically, combine the zigzagging adventure of National Treasure with the historical
sleuthing of The Da Vinci Code, and you’re in the ballpark.
You’ll have your choice of desafíos, like Ambush, an espionage mission where you hunt a stranger
with a water gun (a stranger who may also be hunting you). But for now, keep your sights on
Labyrinth, a knowledge quest that whisks you into Chicago’s underground tunnels in search of
clue-bearing informants. Para el vencedor: glory, bragging rights and the reassurance that you could have
been a CIA agent (if only the position were dangerous enough).
As for the rest: a swift escort home.
That is, assuming there are any survivors...
