That sweet, sweet Andean elixir made of corn.
That's the fuel behind Argentine Nu-Cumbia star La Yegros, who recently released "Chicha Roja," first track of her upcoming album Magnetismo.
The track --produced by none other than award-winning Gustavo Santaolalla-- bursts with Andean melodies and riffs, which put it closer to the sound of a high-mountain carnival than to the variants of cumbia that you can hear at a Buenos Aires club -- more orchestrated and in some ways more complex than the tracks included in La Yegros' stunning 2013 album Viene de Mí.
Which is another way of saying that it's a step forward for the singer and that we're counting the days until March 11, when Viene de Mí comes out.
In the meantime, listen to the track below.
