Papi in English

Rejoice, lovers of Dominican literature and conceptual electro-merengue!

After all, 'tis the season for long-due translations of foreign literature.

Or at least the season for great announcements of translated literature.

Because the University of Chicago Press Books has announced the publication of Rita Indiana's Papi next March.

You don't know about Papi?

Let's just say it's an electric coming of age mambo of a story, narrated by a girl who waits and waits for her papi to come back from the US of A and lavish her with gifts and glory. And did we mention that Papi is a drug dealer?

But nothing of that really matters, because Papi is all about the electricity of its words, the sentences that follow each other as if they were running for their lives.

Don't believe us?

Well, you'll need to wait until March to know if we're full of it.

LOGISTICS: Papi by Rita Indiana, coming in March, 2016
