NPR de Toloache

The amazing NYC band Mariachi Flor de Toloache keeps nailing it.

This week, they did way more than topping the Latin chart of iTunes with their self-titled debut album.

They appeared on NPR's prestigious Tiny Desk Concert series.

And while their set may have formally been only 3 songs long, in it the Toloaches exhibited their musical scope, from traditional mariachi to cumbia, R&B, swing and a violin solo that verges into Appalachian music.

A special mention must be given to guitarrón player Lisa Maree Dowling, who gives the performance a bluesy feeling and a decisive rock and roll attitude -- something that many groups that would die before trying mariachi could learn from.

Enjoy and repeat.
