Legendary PortraitsBy: Manero
Royalty just isn’t what it used to be. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
You won’t find us bowing to the kings and queens of England and Spain, but we do believe in other forms of royalty. Like the one you can find in spirits, for example, where Grey Goose has established vodka nobility. It’s a storied line that, this summer, has been extended to include Le Melon flavored vodka, a spirit infused with a fruit kings are said to have traded gold for: the Cavaillon melon.
And then there are other fields—film, music, sports—where kings are made on the force of their talent. Where royalty is earned, not inherited.
That’s why it’s perfectly fitting that Grey Goose Le Melon has teamed with acclaimed painter Kehinde Wiley to produce portraits of today’s kings of culture in ways that highlight their heroic achievements—and can match Le Melon’s unique taste. His custom series of portraits will show icons and trailblazers, starting with Emmy Award–winning filmmaker Spike Lee. Two more kings will be revealed this summer, including a legendary music producer and an iconic pro basketball player.
The stunning works of art will be unveiled at exclusive events across the country, and auctioned off in December at a marquee art show in Miami.
That’s right: they can be yours. Now all you need is a castle wall to hang them on.
