Hey, Where Did You Get That T-Shirt?

Latinos may be the fastest-growing ethnic group in the United States, but that presence still has a long way to go when it comes to that most American object: the T-shirt. Enter Surropa, a Miami-based online retailer that offers some of the most eye-catching Latino tees we have seen.

While stores like Latin Laundry or Tchirts offer funny T-shirts, some of Surropa’s designs take the game to the next level. It may be the mix of elegance and boldness in creating a design that lets you express yourself as a mariachi in skinny jeans. Or that object of desire—created by Esteban Montano, Surropa’s creative director—that shows a topless Frida Kahlo braiding her hair. (We’ve always had it for you, Frida.) If that doesn’t suit your taste, you may be interested in the one that fuses Don Ramón (if you have to ask who he is, we’ll pretend we didn’t hear) with Run-D.M.C.

But our favorite Surropa design by far is the one that says “BI” on the front and “LINGUAL” on the back. You may think it’s because we are suckers for stupid jokes (we often are), but few items have so elegantly summarized the wonder of belonging to two cultures, speaking two languages and constantly defying expectations better than this one.

Oh, and did we mention the REGGAETON IS DEAD one? If you ask us, it died around 2005, but we’ll never get tired of celebrating its demise.
