The Buenos Aires Experience

By: Manero

Ah, if you could just transport yourself to Buenos Aires by hopping on the L train...

You know, to taste the delicious wines they produce in Argentina. Eat some empanadas and dulce de leche ice cream. Dance to some tango or perhaps to some of that electronic cumbia those in the know favor during those long nights in a city that, well, really doesn’t sleep. Perhaps even pick up some words of lunfardo, that amazing variation on Spanish that moved from the tango underworld into Argentine mainstream.

Consider it done.

It’s called Cambalache, an event that’s setting up tent for two nights at the Brooklyn Night Bazaar after a successful debut in London last year. There you’ll find more than 120 wines to taste (hey, it’s Malbec World Day this week!), food from Sur Empanada, ice creams from Cone and cocktails from Malbec House. Need more reasons to attend? Sure. There will also be a crash course in Buenos Aires street slang from the author of Che Boludo, tango lessons by Strictly Tango, and dance beats provided by none other than DJ Uproot Andy.

So where’s your MetroCard?
